Brief History

The Egyptian Embassy in the Slovak Republic is headed by an Ambassador as of 2007. The current Ambassador is H.E. Mr. Bassem Khalil, who started his post in Bratislava on 14.12.2018.

Egypt recognized the Slovak Republic in 1/1/1993 as soon as it was declared, a step that was followed by the establishing of a Slovak mission in Cairo, headed by an Ambassador as of 2002.

A protocol of cooperation and consultation was signed between the two countries foreign ministries in 1994, the first bilateral round of consultations was held in Bratislava in 1996, and the last was held in Cairo in September of 2018.
