The Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Bratislava strives to promote bilateral cooperation in all areas, including tourism, culture, politics and socio-economics, with the aim of maximizing the benefits and achieving prosperity for the peoples of both countries and further strengthening the ongoing cordial relations. Ambassador Ayman Kamel
The President of the SR Zuzana Čaputová received HE Ambassador Ayman Kamel, who will take over the credentials of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for the Arab Republic of Egypt in Slovakia from November 15, 2023.
Before being appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for the Arab Republic of Egypt in Slovakia, the ambassador held several positions, most recently the assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt for the New Sector of New States, Australia, Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
Brief History
Egypt was one of the first countries to open a diplomatic mission in Bratislava in 1994, after the independence of Slovakia from the Czechoslovak Republic on January 1, 1993.
Since 2007, the Egyptian embassy in Slovakia has been headed by an ambassador. The last ambassador was HE Mr. Bassem Khalil, who took up his position in Bratislava on 14 December 2018. Mrs. Nada Kiwan assumed the post of chargé d'affaires from December 2022 until today.
Egypt recognized the Slovak Republic on January 1, 1993 immediately after its announcement, which was followed by the establishment of a Slovak mission in Cairo headed by an ambassador from 2002.
In 1994, a protocol on cooperation and consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs of both countries was signed, the first bilateral round of consultations took place in Bratislava in 1996 and the last in Cairo in September 2018.
